I had the privilege of sitting down recently with the Philadelphia Inquirer for a wide-ranging conversation about how Princeton is preparing for the coming Supreme Court decision on affirmative action.
Reporter Sue Snyder and I discussed why diversity is essential for the pursuit of excellence in higher education, how Princeton might respond to new law in this area, and other admissions-related topics, such as the use of standardized test scores.
You can read the entire Q&A here, but the key point I want to emphasize—and will continue to emphasize in the coming months—is captured in this line: “We are going to continue to pursue within the limit of the law the diversity that is essential to the mission of this University and the aspirations of this country.”
